Color blindness and bladder cancer
๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ is the fourth most common cancer in men in the United States and causes more than 16,000 deaths per year in that country. One of the easily identifiable signs is the Sometimes, this is the ๐จ๐ง๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง if there is no pain. ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ is one of the most common ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ, affecting 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women. In most cases, it is the ability to ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ ๐ซ๐๐ that is affected.
An article published in ๐๐๐ก๐ข๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐กโ investigated whether patients with ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ have poorer outcomes than patients without color blindness. The study showed that color-blind patients with bladder cancer had a ๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ฅ than those without color blindness. The same analyses were performed on a group of patients with ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ instead of bladder cancer, but the reduction in survival was ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ญ in this group.
These results suggest that screening for certain diseases, particularly certain cancers, should be ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ, such as patients with color blindness, who may have more difficulty perceiving warning signs ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐ก ๐๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐. Further studies on this subject are needed, particularly to differentiate between the
