Binge eating

01/02/2018

Binge eating is a recognized eating disorder characterized by episodes of excessive food consumption, usually over a short period, followed by embarrassment and stomach discomfort.

During binge-eating episodes, people experience complete lack of self-control, which leads to shame, embarrassment, discomfort, and guilt. Contrary to bulimia, binge eating is generally not associated with purging, or forced vomiting, nor with laxative abuse or excessive physical activity.
