Cannabis medical benefits and downsides

The National Institutes of Health stated that people have been using cannabis to treat their pathological conditions for at least 3,000 years. Many countries have not deemed cannabis safe or effective in any medical treatment.

Many researchers have suggested that cannabis or cannabinoids-containing products are 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧. Other studies have indicated that oral cannabis can reduce chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. In 2018, the Food and Drug Administration approved 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐥 (𝐂𝐁𝐃), which is not psychoactive, for the 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐬𝐲. This approval was based on research and clinical trials.

On the other hand, a plethora of studies have discovered 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬. Daily cannabis use may 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐢𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫. Moderate evidence has stated that cannabis users are more likely to have 𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. Cannabis consumption may also increase the risk of schizophrenia. Chronic coughing may be another health problem caused by regular cannabis use.

There is evidence showing both 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬. However, despite up-to-date reviews of the scientific studies, further research is required to determine 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐬𝐞.
