Cycling in the city: yet more supporting data!

25/10/2018

Is cycling really the healthiest way to get around town? That seems to be the conclusion from a recent Spanish study gathering data from several countries throughout Europe.

Researchers from the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) recently studied the impact of
cycling in cities, surveying nearly 9,000 people in Anvers, Barcelona, London, Örebro, Rome, Vienna
and Zurich.

The results, published in Environment International, demonstrated that cycling was indeed
associated with the greatest number of health advantages compared to other means of transport,
notably in terms of vitality, mental health and stress relief.

The study also underlined that nearly all countries, with the exception of Nordic states, still have
room for improvement when it comes to prioritising cycling. It’s just one more reason to leave your
car at home, not to mention that cycling helps you stay slim!
