Frühjahrsmüdigkeit

Frühjahrsmüdigkeit, or "Spring fatigue" is a syndrome identified in Germany that has yet to have an equivalent in France or England…

The symptoms, namely extreme lethargy, mild headaches, irritability, and a lack of motivation, usually manifest around mid March or April. And though an estimated 60% of the German population are thought to suffer, the underlying mechanisms of this syndrome are still woefully misunderstood.
Some believe the body struggles to adapt to the seasonal changes in sunlight and temperature that naturally occur at this time of year. Alternatively, it could be due to an exhausting upsurge in serotonin or excess melatonin. Then again, some say it is simply a collective fantasy…who’s to say?
