Is there glyphosate in our children’s nappies?

28/02/2019

The national agency for health safety (Anses) has issued a warning about chemical substances found in disposable baby nappies…

Following an analysis of 23 of the most popular brand nappies, Anses has made some worrying findings. According to their statement, they detected “dangerous chemical substances (…) that could be transferred through urine to come into prolonged contact with the baby’s skin".

More than 60 potentially dangerous substances were identified, including 13 in quantities superior to recommended health safety limits. Topping the list are pesticides and perfumes, yet these are not the most concerning. Glyphosate has also been found. As a result, Anses has recommended eliminating from the production processes all perfumes and raw materials that could have been contaminated by pesticides.

Hopefully, the situation will soon improve, yet in the meantime people should think about using
washable nappies to protect their baby’s health, plus this is also better for the environment.
