United in the fight against Alzheimer’s

27/09/2018

This September has been the World Alzheimer’s Month, already in its 14th year. Faced with a growing population, we are all concerned with the colossal challenge this neurodegenerative disease presents.

Over 47 million people are affected all over the world, a number likely to triple by 2025. In France, the number of sufferers is estimated at 900,000. Given these enormous figures, a World Alzheimer’s Day is essential to raise awareness.

Yet this global movement does not solely aim to inform the general public of the realities of this disease, but also to make governments aware of the issues relating to sufferers and their families and friends. Not forgetting family caregivers, either, who die before the Alzheimer’s sufferer in 30% of cases.
