Vaping kills

12/11/2019

The number of lung disease cases linked to vaping is climbing in the USA. So far, 1,299 cases have been reported, and the related deaths are growing.

In total, 26 people have died so far after using electronic cigarettes. According to the health authorities, the majority of these e-cigarettes contained cannabis-laced liquids. Initially, doctors did not make the link between the lung disease symptoms reported in these patients and their use of e- cigarettes, although after a few months it became all too clear, as did the growing number of deaths.

The cause is apparently additives in the products, yet the actual mechanism of the disease has still not been identified. The victims are for the most part men aged under 35, although half of all the deaths have occurred in the over 50s.

In the USA, several cities are now considering banning all e-cigarettes or just those with added aromas, or have already voted to do so. The White House has even announced that all vapes with added aromas will be banned this autumn.
