World COPD Day

21/11/2018

World COPD Day is organized by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) in collaboration with health care professionals and COPD patient groups throughout the world. Its aim is to raise awareness about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and improve COPD care throughout the world.

Millions of people across the world have COPD and don’t even know it. They are struggling with their
symptoms and a lower quality of life. Their condition is progressing quickly because they are not
receiving treatment. Let's raise awareness of COPD, find the missing millions, and help people get the
treatment and support they deserve.

COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, describes a group of lung conditions that make it
difficult to empty air out of the lungs because your airways have been narrowed. Living with COPD
makes it difficult for you to breathe, and you might find everyday tasks a real challenge.
