How to combat constipation?

11/01/2018

Constipation constitutes one of the greatest problems of this century, considering that one in two of all women are sufferers. This is why it needs to be taken seriously, as without appropriate management, constipation can become a chronic condition, and often with accompanying complications.

Often associated with irritation, heaviness or discomfort, constipation is defined by less than three bowel movements a week. In most cases, it is multifactorial, which means that there are several factors at work, such as insufficient physical exercise or not enough fibre and hydration in the diet.
What luck, then, that there are some simple remedies:

1) First thing each morning, drink a large glass of water or orange juice then consume at least 2 litres of liquid during the day in the form of tea infusions, light soups or water.

2) Enrich your diet with fibre in cereal, fruit, vegetables, nuts, and grains. This kind of fibre will help regulate your bowel movements.

3) Get moving! Physical exercise is also a great way to stimulate digestion.
