Studying helps maintain cognitive function

Researchers have just found a link between studying and cognitive ability…

What if prolonging your studies could keep you sharp into old age? This is, more or less, what French
researchers have concluded following a study led by Leslie Grasset.

Given how our populations are ageing, it is predicted that approximately 131 million people will be
affected by dementia from now to 2050. Hence the need for preventative measures, one being
intellectual stimulation, believed to play a major role.

Thanks to this study, we learn that people who have studied for longer possess greater cognitive
abilities. As Leslie Grasset summarises, “Our work confirms that education has a beneficial impact on
cognition”.
