The many benefits of garlic

One of the most widely used seasonings throughout the world, garlic seems to play a key role in the prevention of gastrointestinal cancers, such as esophageal, stomach, and colon cancer.

Epidemiological studies conducted in Yangzhong province in the northeast of China showed that stomach cancer occurred there particularly frequently. Analysis of the dietary habits in this region of China showed that the inhabitants’ diets were particularly low in garlic and onion, and they therefore had a higher risk of developing stomach cancer.
Note, however, that freshly crushed garlic is by far the best source of anticancer compounds, compared with cooked garlic. It seems that garlic can scare off more than just evil spirits.
